AN INVITATION FROM PASTOR MILARCH
Born in Detroit, MI, and raised just outside of the city, I had three younger brothers. In pursuit of becoming a Lutheran pastor, I graduated from Concordia Lutheran Junior College, Ann Arbor, MI, in 1972, from Concordia Senior College, Ft. Wayne, IN, in 1974, and from Christ Seminary - Seminex, St. Louis, MO, in 1980. I was ordained into the ministry in 1980.
After serving part-time and full-time churches, I became a school teacher in 1996. I retired from the ministry in 2012 and from teaching in 2016, and again from ministry in 2020. Currently I’m serving as the interim pastor here at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, State College, PA. My hobbies include woodworking and crossword puzzles. I’ve built the cabinets for three different kitchen remodels; my next venture will be making furniture.
My favorite Bible verse is the one Pastor Mehl read over me at my confirmation back in 1966, Psalm 23.1:
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”
Since the word “pastor” means “shepherd,” Jesus is my Pastor, as well as yours, as I seek to pastor the flock here at Emmanuel. I invite you to visit us and see what our church, our flock, is like.
In Christ,
Pastor Milarch
